Byte InstallerBuy

Your software, ready to install.

Byte Installer builds the installer for your Windows and Mac software. On Windows your customers get one file that installs your program cleanly, looks professional and shows your name as the publisher instead of a warning, and on a Mac they get a DMG or a PKG. You pick the files and the look, Byte Installer does the rest.

MinutesTo a signed installer

From a blank project to a signed self extracting .exe. No tutorial, no scripting language.

Under 0.5 sCertificate check

An upfront check flags a bad certificate or unreachable timestamp server before the build runs, not after it fails.

10Bundled languages

Ten locales in every wizard, with a per language MSI matrix for enterprise rollout.

2 in 1Formats, one source

A self extracting .exe and a WiX based .msi from the same project file. Build either, or both. Each for x64, ARM64 and x86.

What it is

A complete installer builder for Windows and Mac.

Byte Installer is a desktop application that turns your program files into an installer for Windows or Mac. You describe your product once in a project: name, publisher and version, the files to install, shortcuts, file types, optional components, prerequisites such as runtimes, firewall rules, and the look of the setup wizard. On Windows, that one project becomes a self extracting setup .exe for your customers, a Windows Installer .msi for company IT, or both, each for x64, ARM64 and x86. Every Windows build is checked before it starts, signed with your certificate and verified afterwards. On a Mac, the same project becomes a DMG or a PKG for Apple Silicon, Intel or both. Everything you set in the visual editor is stored in a plain text project file, so the same installer can be built from the command line on a build server, with the same result. It is also the tool we use ourselves: Byte Installer builds the installer that ships World Creator to over 50,000 creators.

Workflow

From blank project to signed installer.

The default path is short and the same on every project. Five steps. Power features stay out of the way until you need them.

01

New project

Pick a template or import an existing Advanced Installer .aip file. Byte Installer fills in sensible defaults across every section. Outcome: a runnable scaffold.

02

Identity

App name, publisher, version, install scope, default install directory. Status dots flag what still needs attention. Outcome: a project that validates clean.

03

Files and design

Drop your payload into the Files tab. Pick a theme, your accent color, your welcome image. The Design tab preview shows exactly what customers will see. Outcome: an installer that looks like your brand.

04

Build

Pick EXE, MSI, or both on Windows, DMG or PKG on a Mac. For Windows builds the pipeline validates the certificate up front, packs, signs, and verifies. JSON output streams cleanly into CI. Outcome: a finished installer in three minutes.

05

Ship

A signed self extracting EXE for indie distribution and a Windows Installer MSI for enterprise IT, both in ten bundled languages, plus a DMG or PKG for Mac users. Outcome: a product ready for the world.

Migrate

Already on Advanced Installer? Bring your project across.

Drop your existing .aip file into Byte Installer and the importer pulls files, components, shortcuts, and basic property metadata into a clean .binst project. Custom actions, registry, services, and file associations land in a diagnostic report so you can convert them one at a time. No rewrite from scratch, and no surprise lock in.
