Features

Every feature,
and a guided tour.

Byte Installer is an installer authoring tool for Windows and Mac, built around one plain text project file. Design your installer in the visual editor, then produce a signed .exe or .msi on Windows, or a DMG or PKG on a Mac, from the GUI or straight from CI. The two never disagree, because they read the same file.

A guided tour

Build a Windows installer, screen by screen.

The sidebar mirrors the shape of an installer, grouped into Project, Content, Behavior, and Output. A simple installer only needs the first few screens. The rest are there when a project asks for them. Click any screenshot to see it at full size.

The result

This is what your users see.

A complete installer made with Byte Installer, from the first page to the last: welcome, license agreement, setup type, install location, progress and done. Every page carries your app name, your welcome image and your colors in the design you picked. On Windows you ship it as a setup EXE with this wizard or as an MSI for company IT. On a Mac, Byte Installer builds a DMG or a PKG from the same project. Linux follows later.

Why authors switch

Why developers choose Byte Installer.

Built for teams shipping desktop software, Byte Installer brings a modern wizard, code signing, and ten languages to every installer you ship.

Set up in minutes, not an afternoon

Fill in your app details, point at your files, and build a signed .exe. No tutorial required.

One project, two formats

A self extracting .exe with a WebView2 wizard for your customers, and a WiX based .msi for GPO, Intune, and SCCM. Build either, or both at once. Every format builds for x64, ARM64 and x86, and Byte Installer itself is native on ARM64.

A wizard that looks the part

Light and dark themes, your brand colors, optional components, and ten languages built in.

Signing that is genuinely built in

Six backends, PFX, Windows Certificate Store, Azure Key Vault, AWS KMS, DigiCert KeyLocker, and a custom command, validated before the build runs, not after it fails.

At home in your pipeline

The GUI writes a plain text project file your build server reads as is. JSON output, real exit codes, shell completions.

Safe by default

A failed install rolls itself back, and a failed upgrade leaves the previous version working. Install logs help you diagnose failures, and an optional Repair action restores shortcuts and registry entries.
